Anja, I have lots of experience with babywearing but no time to write. In last issue (Jan-Feb 2007) of Mothering is written ALL about baby wearing.

Thanks Hirkani. I am still waiting for the latest edition of Mothering...I hope it didn't get lost in mail :-) Can't wait to read more about babywearing.
Have a nice day,

Hi Anja,
You know all about my experience with the carriers but let me share it with the others. I started using baby carrier when my baby was about 5 months old. I bought the one where she is in an upright position. From then on I always take it with me when we go out. I usually start off with a cart but Klara gets tired of it after a while so I put her in the carrier. Klara loves it whether she is awake or asleep. Luckily she (only) weights 7 kg so it is not such a shock for my back. Bravo to you Anja carrying Jun from start on!

We review full range of child carriers and baby carriers from the most trusted names in the business, rugged baby backpacks from Kelty, Deuter and Sherpani.

Thanks Stephen. Your blog looks great. I am sure we will find many useful information there. I hope to get more comments from you guys. Anja

Hi Anja,
Stumbled upon your blog while i was searching for more info on the APrica sling. Cant seem to find others who have used it. Can I know your experience using it? Was your sling the one pictured on your blog? Could you breastfeed your baby while carrying him in the sling? I have a 3wk-old son, and i'm thinking of purchasing it. Don't feel too comfortable in a ring sling. Thanks for your input. : )

Dear Nur, sorry for my late response. We were on vacation. We have used Aprica Zucco bed for the first 5 months- we have used it a lot during the day and also to put him to sleep. He really enjoyed it. The "flat back" is great and it seemed really comfortable for a baby. It is a bit less comfortable for the parent when baby has more than 9 kg. We have only used Zucco in the "lying position". I have to say Beco was a life saver for us, because Jun wanted to be acrried most of the time.

Later (after 6 months) we have switched to Beco carrier, because it allows much healthier sitting position for the child and it is far more comfortable for the parent. Check their web page. Sutemi is also great from 6 month on.

moby wraps

Baby wraps and baby slings are a safe way to carry your baby around.

Just wanted to chime in and say that a woven wrap (NOT a stretchy wrap) can absolutely be worn safely and comfortably from birth until you physically cannot lift your child's weight anymore (3, 4, 5 years old). They offer a far greater range for methods of carrying than any SSC (soft structured carrier) on the market, are more ergonomic, easier to wash and store, have a high resale value and can be used for a myriad of uses after the child has grown beyond being worn. They distribute weight better, making wearing more comfortable, and come in an infinite variety of colours, fabrics, prints, weaves, and on! Big Name companies include Didymos, Girasol, Neobulle, Vatani, Hoppediz, Ellevil, and BBSlen. The learning curve is quite steep, but the payoffs are well worth it! Wraps are the original way to wear a baby. :)
